Abstract
This guide, written by the ETH Career Center, leads students through the 4 key phases of their job application process. The guide combines theoretical inputs, exercises, testimonials and best practices to help students design and implement a successful job search strategy.Learning Objectives
After working through this guide, students should have a better understanding of the career management cyle; of their motivations, interestes, values, core competencies in relation to their future career; of how to explore the job market; of how to create and manage their job marketing tools (CV, LinkedIn profile, cover letter); of how to create and implement a relevant job search strategy.Content
During this activity, the students read the application guide (or sections of it) own their own, completing the questionnaires, check-lists and exercises as they proceed through the guide. The guide is structured around the 4 key steps in a job search strateg: (1) discovering yourself (needs, interests, motivations, etc), (2) exploring the job market, (3) focusing your search, (4) applying for the job. Working through the guide or sections of it is also often a pre-requisite for individual career coaching.Location
