Citizen science – harnessing the power of citizen-generated data
Abstract
Involving citizens in research projects is not only advantageous for scientists, but also enables the public to gain an insight into the world of research. This workshop will give you an understanding of the significance of carrying out citizen science projects, and introduce the activities of the Citizen Science Center Zurich.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the workshop, you are able to
- understand the general principle behind CS (Citizen Science) methodology,
- understand the implications of engaging with CS,
- evaluate the potentials of co-created Citizen Science to power your own research,
- evaluate different approaches and related tools,
- develop a pilot project to analyse digital data,
- develop a pilot project to collect digital data.
