Abstract

Within the first year of doctorate at ETH, doctoral candidates are required to submit their doctoral plan, the document which forms the foundation of the aptitude colloquium.
This workshop addresses topics as the formal requirements and the structure of the doctoral plan, as well as common challenges faced during the drafting process.

Learning Objectives

After this workshop you are able to

  • develop a structure for your doctoral plan
  • place the right content where it belongs in your doctoral plan
  • meet administrative requirements for your doctoral plan
  • be aware that your peers feel similarly to you about the doctoral plan.

  • Formal requirements of the doctoral plan
  • Structure and sections of the doctoral plan
  • Common challenges faced during the drafting process, as identifying and refining pertinent research questions, formulating a cohesive and robust research project, navigating the writing process with efficiency and clarity, time-management during the writing process.
