Abstract
The workshop provides doctoral students with knowledge and practical advice on how to structure their research plan and manage it overtime.Learning Objectives
In this workshop, participants will experience a range of project management methods and tools relevant for the management of their doctoral projects. By the end, they should be able to:
- structure, plan, track and control their doctoral project
- identify project risks and develop measures for managing them
- characterize the project’s stakeholders and produce a concept to inform them adequately
- define roles and responsibilities in their doctoral project
- use project management as a communication tool in their project environment
- apply selected project management methods and tools effectively to their own PhD project
Content
- Defining “project”, “project boundaries” and “project management” in the context of a doctoral project
- Structuring projects: phases, sub-projects and work packages% setting milestones and defining deliverables
- Formulating intermediate objectives, managing moving targets
- Planning project time and workload in detail
- Project tracking and controlling
- Stakeholder analysis and information concept
- Risk assessment and risk management
- Project organizations: roles and responsibilities
- Project communication
