Abstract

This course imparts a variety of teaching skills which will help Doctoral Teaching Assistants with their teaching tasks.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Plan teaching sequences according to learning objectives
  • Engage students in relevant learning activities
  • Use feedback effectively to guide learning processes
  • Lead a group by defining conditions which encourage active student engagement

This programme is designed for ETH Doctoral Teaching Assistants with current teaching responsibilities (exercises, excursions, supervision of practicals, lectures, etc.) or those who will assume teaching tasks in the semester following the programme. No previous teacher training is required.

Online course with 3 live sessions:

  • Kick-Off (mandatory, online): 1 March 2024, 11:30-13:00.
  • Microteaching (optional, online): 26th of March 2024, 09:15-12:00.
  • Consolidation Workshop (mandatory, in person - on site): Friday 26th of April, one workshop in the morning 9:15-12:00 or workshop in the afternoon from 13:15-16:00.

For those participants who cannot attend in person on the 26th: We offer an online alternative on the 25th of April from 09:15-12:00.

You need to register for one of the workshops in Moodle (during the semester).
