Abstract

To write a scientific paper, you need to read a huge amount of text. Reading techniques, formulating reading goals and creating reading notes support you in getting through your reading efficiently.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, you

  • are familiar with the different phases of reading,
  • can engage in the appropriate manner and depth of reading,
  • can set reading objectives for a text on the basis of the research question of your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis,
  • know how to identify and document the most important information in a text.

Content

  • How do you manage to triage large amounts of text?
  • What criteria help decide whether a text should be read?
  • What reading techniques can be used to get an overview of a text efficiently?
  • How do you find out what you are looking for in a text?
