Abstract

The seminar will take students through a list of career misconceptions that graduates have about their entry onto the job market and their future professional career, e.g. “A wrong decision now will ruin my professional career forever”, "I need to follow my passion… (Help! I don’t have one!)”, or "Without a PhD in my field, I will not find a job”.

Learning Objectives

During this interactive presentation, students learn what beliefs lie beneath typical career misconceptions and how these beliefs could be holding them back from being successful in their job search. They should be able to self-reflect on their own beliefs and realign them so that they are less hindersome.

Content

During this presentation, students listen to ETH Career Center facilitators presenting information on the learning topics. They can ask questions either during the presentation or at the end during the Q&A. The interactive part consists of polls, questions to the audience.
