EndNote – Reference management

Abstract

In scientific papers, ideas and information that come from external sources must be cited. The reference management system EndNote is a helpful bibliographic tool that makes it easier for you to cite your bibliographic sources correctly. In this course we will show you how to use EndNote in order to cite, organise and manage your literature.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to

  • create your own personal digital EndNote library and manage all your sources in one place,
  • use different ways to import literature into your EndNote library,
  • efficiently insert citations into your text documents and create bibliographies in your chosen citation style,
  • search online bibliographic databases and retrieve references directly into your EndNote library,
  • create private groups to collaborate with other researchers and share documents.

Content

  • Transferring references from databases
  • Managing references including assigning keywords
  • Download of journal articles as PDF full text
  • Editing PDF full texts in EndNote (highlighting, annotating)
  • Incorporating standardised citations in Microsoft Word
  • Automatic formatting of the resulting list of references
