A teaching portfolio is an essential tool for educators to showcase their teaching philosophy, practices, and accomplishments to potential employers or promotion committees. In this workshop, you will learn how to create a comprehensive and effective teaching statement that highlights your teaching expertise, experience, and impact.

Lernziele

  • Know what a teaching portfolio is and know how to structure such a document
  • Write your own teaching statement and get feedback from your peers
  • Critically evaluate different teaching statements from others.

Inhalt

In this workshop, you learn about the scope and structure of a teaching portfolio and why you should already start to draft a teaching portfolio during your doctorate. The second part of the workshop focuses on the teaching philosophy statement. The teaching philosophy is the component of the teaching portfolio which describes own core beliefs about teaching and how these are reflected in the personal teaching experience, impact and goals. Finally, you will evaluate different teaching statements and then develop a draft of your own teaching statement.
