Career Bites - Virtual
Networking Events
Abstract
Students have the opportunity to get to know more about a company by watching a live stream moderated by company representatives (Human Resources, Line Managers, ETH Alumni) of hiring companies, and actively asking questions.Learning Objectives
After participating in one or several of these events, students should have (1) an overview of specific career management techniques as given to them by the participating company (e.g. CV do's and don'ts, how companies use LinkedIn to hire, ...) and (2) a better understanding of the job market, incl. having a better understanding of what a specific company does, the types of jobs they offer, which skills and competencies are required.Content
Students log on to "CareerFairy" and view the live event, hosted by a hiring company. They can log in from any type of device. The event usually lasts 45 minutes and takes place during lunch hour or in the late afternoon. Representatives of the company first usually present something about a generic career-related topic (hiring processes, career paths, etc.). They then go on to answer questions posted before and during the live stream. They can also invite students to ask questions via chat or video.Academic Semester
